Come and Watch Polo On The Beach

Le Touquet Polo Cup

Touquet Audi Polo Cup

Every year, at the beginning of April, the Polo Club organises the Le Touquet Polo Cup. The tournament this year takes place on Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th April. On the Le Touquet beach at low tide, 8 teams from the Paris and the North compete over the 2 days to win the trophy. It is an opportunity for the public to watch some great polo.

The matches will start at 11:15 on Saturday and 12:30 on Sunday, near the Aqualud water park.

In the early 1900s Le Touquet Paris-Plage was one of the first places where polo was played in France. The Prince of Wales was even the most prestigious of its participants.

Created in 2008, the Touquet Polo Club aims to revive polo in Le Touquet.

Come see the matches and encourage the players!

Best Restaurants in Le Touquet

Le Matisse Restaurant Le Touquet

Best Restaurants in Le Touquet

Le Matisse  is one of the best restaurants in Le Touquet. Situated in the heart of town the restaurant  has a capacity of 100 seats inside. Divided into three rooms with different atmospheres (with a non-smoking room and air-conditioned).  Al fresco dining on the street is relaxing even if it’s not that warm as the heaters take care of that.  Its a great place to soak up the Le Touquet ambience.

Best Restaurants in Le Touquet
Sabine, Nicolas and their  team are warm and welcoming to their family restaurant, Creperie, Pizzeria.  The one thing that can catch you out in Le Touquet is not eating at the correct time. There are some great places to eat in Le Touquet but if you find yourself wanting a meal at 4 pm then you may struggle to find anywhere open. Le Matisse fills this gap nicely opening from 9 am until 11pm daily. All the usual French dishes are available such as the Moules Mariner with garlic and frites, Beef Bourguignon, Escargots . Sometimes nothing else will do except a burger and chips. The burgers are great made from quality meat and served with a decent portion of frites with fresh salad. Le Matisse offers consistently good food with real value for money. Highly recommended. Le Matisse 68 rue de Metz – 62520 LE TOUQUET-PARIS-PLAGE Tel .: 03 21 05 94 81

Twin Town Challenge 2018

What is the Twin Town Challenge?

SPRING BANK HOLIDAY WEEKEND FRIDAY 25 – MONDAY 28 MAY 2018

Twin towns Witney – Le Touquet, 100 cars, 1 amazing weekend. The Twin Town Challenge is a fun, team-based car challenge. Buy a £500 banger, add your own style and drive it from Oxfordshire to Le Touquet, France, competing in challenges along the way. All to raise money for technology charity SpecialEffect.

What is the Twin Town Challenge?
At its simplest, the Twin Town Challenge is a fun charity car rally. Teams buy a £500 banger and pimp their ride however they like. Then over Spring Bank Holiday weekend they take an epic road trip.

The route goes from Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire to Witney’s twin town, Le Touquet in northern France. Along the way you’ll take on challenges and the occasional lap of a circuit. The event is in aid of SpecialEffect – a charity focused on improving the lives of the physically disabled.

We arrange a series of fun events and challenges before the main event to help you get in the spirit and meet your fellow Twin Towners. These will see you rubbing shoulders with celebrities, stoking team rivalries and having great fun.

The big jamboree is in Le Touquet itself, where our French compatriots throw a street party extravagaza. Expect live bands, fine French food and flowing drinks to help you toast your successful trip!

On our return to Merry England, afternoon tea and an awards ceremony round off a fantastic, fun weekend. All in aid of a great cause.

Donate

The Twin Town Challenge exists to support the fantastic work of SpecialEffect. They use technology to bring joy and fulfilment to the lives of physically disabled people. If you can’t take part in the Twin Town Challenge you can do your bit by donating. All money raised goes directly to SpecialEffect so please donate what you can today to help SpecialEffect improve more lives.

Every penny you donate will go directly to SpecialEffect. This helps them to provide one-to-one support that enables disabled people to work, play and lead more fulfilling lives through the use of technology.

Your donation will help to pay for occupational therapists, who take the time to understand each person’s needs. They then create customised controllers that can take the smallest movements from any part of the body and use this to control games, programs and other technology.

Easter Egg Hunt – Le Touquet Events

Easter Egg Hunt - Le Touquet

Easter Egg Hunt – Le Touquet

The big FREE Easter Egg Hunt in Le Touquet takes place on Sunday 1st April at 10 am.
Parc des Pins, Avenue de Verger

With Easter  almost upon us excitement grows with thoughts of Hot cross buns and chocolate eggs. Children’s anticipation mounts as  chocolate mountains flash before starry eyes. Where technology is king it’s refreshing to see that Easter Egg Hunts still attract big crowds. In the UK Cadbury the famous chocolate company join forces with the Natural Trust to sponsor 250 events  this year. In France The Centre des Monuments Nationaux, sponsored by Cémoi, hold Easter egg hunts at many national monuments on Easter Sunday. The French love affair with chocolate is quite staggering with some 13,000 tonnes of chocolate sold at Easter.

So what is the history of chocolate Easter eggs?

Lets step back one stage, Why do we celebrate Easter with eggs?

In many cultures the egg represent a symbol of new life, fertility and rebirth. For Christians the egg is symbolic of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The first Easter Eggs were duck or hen eggs decorated in the home with local dyes and paints. Chocolate eggs are a relative newcomer to the Easter story not appearing until the 19th Century. France and Germany pioneered the new and exciting chocolate market that we see today.

The ultimate eggs crafted by Carl Fabergé are now worth millions. Tsar Alexander III commissioned the first egg as a gift to his wife, the Empress Maria Fedorovna. 50 other eggs were given by the Russian Royal family of which only 43 survive.
So what are some key French Phrases that you may need when you are deciphering the clues on your local hunt.

Joyeuses Pâques or Bonnes Pâques – Happy Easter

Vacances de Pâques – Easter holidays

Lundi de Pâques – Easter Monday

Dimanche de Pâques – Easter Sunday

Vendredi Saint – Good Friday

Jeudi Saint – Maundy Thursday

Le Carême – Lent

Pâques fleuries – Palm Sunday or Easter in Flower.

Spare a thought for the volunteer Mums and Dads who work hard to come up with the ideas. Here are a few Easter Egg Hunt clues to help you on your way.

You don’t have to search very long or far this is where we keep the car.
